Touch panels are
becoming an increasingly common feature on
portable products. Because they are integrated
directly onto the screen, touch panels make
products lighter and smaller giving them added
portability and convenience.
Below is a touch
panel with a resistive type overlay. A touch
panel is made up of two transparent layers of
ITO film. When the user touches the screen,
the upper and lower layers of film come into
contact generating a signal that identifies
the coordinate of the touch relative to the
screen image.
